                Dr. Karri Meleo and "Vinnie"

Dr. Karri Meleo
has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 20 years.  She earned her DVM at UC Davis and went on to complete the additional years of schooling and specialty training to become board certified by both the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and the American College of Veterinary Radiology.  She has consulted with zoos and enjoys working with a variety of species and the humans that care for them.  She has also been a long-time consultant with the Veterinary Information Network.

In April, the WSVMA hosted the first ever Veterinary Specialist Day.  The all-day program included local veterinary specialists speaking to veterinarians and veterinary support staff.   Dr. Karri Meleo spoke to local veterinarians on indications for radiation therapy and various radiation treatment protocols.  She also presented a talk to veterinary technicians about different chemotherapy agents' side effects.

Animal Cancer Specialists also employs licensed veterinary technicians, nursing assistants and additional administrative and clerical staff that are here to provide you and your pet with their specialized knowledge and compassionate care.

Stephanie started working at a veterinary hospital right after high school and enrolled in the pre-vet program at the University of AZ.  Although she changed majors, she decided not to leave the veterinary field altogether and has spent the majority of her life working in various capacities, including equine surgery and emergency medicine.  She began working with Dr. Meleo over ten years ago and has a particular interest in radiation oncology.  She enjoys a bad round of golf in her spare time and shares her home with her G. Shorthair Pointer, Sara-B.

              Jennifer with Justin and Evan

Jennifer
graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in finance.  She moved to Washington and decided to pursue her love of animals by attending Pierce College and becoming a licensed veterinary technician.  She started working with Dr. Meleo in 1998.  She took some time off to start a family and joined Animal Cancer Specialists in 2000.  She enjoys traveling, sports, and spending time with her family Paul, Justin (8) and Evan (4), Stella (K9), Yuri (K9), and Lucy (feline).

Victoria is thrilled to be our new receptionist.  She and her husband, Scott, have two daughters, as well as two cats, three dogs, two parrots and eighteen chickens.  Victoria worked as a veterinary assistant for two years but has spent the last 10 years in banking and customer service.  Her love for animals has provided her with the experience of raising sheep, goats, horses, ferrets, chinchillas, rabbits and turkeys.  She spends her time traveling and photographing anything and everything that will allow her the opportunity of taking a picture.  She continues working towards an AA in photography at Everett Community College, where her thesis was a photograph collection titled, "In the mind of animals; a view in their minds....when you're not home."

                         Kate and "Beasty"

Kate graduated from Earlham College in Indiana with a BA in Biology and then moved to Seattle where she started working as a veterinary assistant in a general practice.  She joined us in December 2007 and enjoys meeting and working with the people and pets that come through our doors.  Outside of work, she enjoys horticulture and has various interests including bat physiology and ecology.  This Spring she was accepted into the Masters Program in the School of Forest Resources at the UW and will be returning to school in September.  Congratulations!

                Sandra with her husband, John

Over fifteen years ago, Sandra began her career in veterinary medicine as a receptionist for a specialty practice that included internal medicine, oncology and radiology.  Shortly after Dr. Meleo joined that practice, Sandra began her role as an oncology technician.  She continues to enjoy treating patients in addition to serving as our Office Manager.  She and her family enjoy fishing, and sailing on their 22' Reinell.

        Cindy with her daughter, Hailey

Cindy
graduated from Apollo College in 2005 and worked at a general practice before joining us as a veterinary assistant in December 2008.  She enjoys radiation therapy and says the opportunity she has to pet all of our cute patients is one of her favorite aspects of the job.  In her spare time, she enjoys white water rafting, hiking, swimming, skiing and gardening with her husband and daughter.

                       Raynel and "Sparky"

Raynel has returned to ACS after working for awhile in general practice.  During her absence, she sat for her boards and passed the exam enabling her to become a Registered Veterinary Technician, in January 2009.  She has enjoyed the companionship of animals since an early age, and after a 14-year career in printing, she decided to enter a field that she is truly passionate about, where she could empathize with people and help them care for their pets.  In her spare time, she enjoys fishing and camping with her husband, Tim and their 2 dogs: Sparky, and Joshua, a Golden Retriever.  She has also enjoyed the company of a diverse menagierie of rescues including multiple cats, fish and birds.  Her current brood consists of 3 cats: Poppy, from Boulder, MT, Oliver, and Phantom, and "Torti", the Russian tortoise.  We're glad she's back.
