Dr. Karri Meleo and "Vinnie" Dr. Sarah Gillings and "Josephine" Animal Cancer Specialists also employs licensed veterinary technicians, nursing assistants and additional administrative and clerical staff that are here to provide your pet with their specialized knowledge and compassionate care.
Dr. Karri Meleo has been practicing veterinary medicine for 20 years. She earned her DVM at UC Davis and went on to complete the additional years of schooling and specialty training to become board certified by both the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and the American College of Veterinary Radiology. She has consulted with zoos and enjoys working with a variety of species and the humans that care for them. She has also been a long-time consultant with the Veterinary Information Network.

Dr. Sarah Gillings attended the University of Minnesota where she earned her DVM. After spending six years practicing general medicine for pets, she returned to school and completed her oncology residency at North Carolina State University and passed her boards to become board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in Medical Oncology. In her free time she enjoys hiking, snow skiing and otherwise exploring the beautiful Northwest. She has two cats, Rosemary and Josephine.
Stephanie started working at a veterinary hospital right after high school and enrolled in the pre-vet program at the University of AZ. Although she changed majors, she decided not to leave the veterinary field altogether and has spent the majority of her life working in various capacities, including equine surgery and emergency medicine. She began working with Dr. Meleo over ten years ago and enjoys radiation therapy most. She shares her life with her German Shorthair Pointer, Sara-B.


Jennifer with Justin and Evan
Jennifer graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in finance. She moved to Washington and decided to pursue her love of animals by attending Pierce College and becoming a licensed veterinary technician. She started working with Dr. Meleo in 1998. She took some time off to start a family and joined Animal Cancer Specialists in 2000. She enjoys traveling, sports, and spending time with her family Paul, Justin (8) and Evan (4), Stella (K9), Yuri (K9), and Lucy (feline).

Kate graduated from Earlham College in Indiana with a BA in Biology and then moved to Seattle where she started working as a veterinary assistant in a general practice. She joined us in December of 2007 and enjoys meeting and working with the people and pets that come through our doors. Outside of work, she enjoys horticulture and has various interests including bat physiology and ecology.

Sandra with her husband, John
Fifteen years ago, Sandra began her career in veterinary medicine as a receptionist for a specialty practice that included internal medicine, oncology and radiology. Shortly after Dr. Meleo joined the practice, Sandra began her role as an oncology technician. She continues to enjoy treating patients in addition to serving as our Office Manager. She has one cat named Newton and enjoys spending time with her husband, her daughter and her two stepchildren.

Cindy graduated from Apollo College in 2005 and worked at a general practice before joining us as a veterinary assistant in December 2008. She reports radiation therapy and the opportunity she has to pet all of our cute patients as two of her favorite things about her job. In her spare time, she enjoys white water rafting, hiking, swimming, skiing and gardening with her husband and daughter.

Joining us up front in February, Courtney became our new Referral Coordinator. Previously, she enjoyed volunteering for PAWS and Pasado's Safe Haven and worked behind the desk of another small animal hospital. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, traveling and a variety of outdoor sports with her boyfriend, Brandon, and Chihuahua, Vicious.
Working along side Courtney is Stephanie. Yes, we have a second Stephanie working with us. She works primarily up front, checking our patients in and our clients out. She also has experience working as a veterinary assistant. Please feel free to ask which Stephanie you are speaking to, if you wish.
