Dr. Karri Meleo and "Vinnie"

Voted one of the Top Vets 2011

Dr. Karri Meleo earned her DVM at UC Davis and went on to complete additional years of schooling and specialty training to become board certified by both the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and the American College of Veterinary Radiology. She has consulted with zoos and enjoys working with a variety of species and the humans that care for them. She has also been a long-time consultant with the Veterinary Information Network.

Dear friends and colleagues,

It is with a heavy heart that I type the news that Dr. Bob Rosenthal has passed away.

As most of you know, Bob joined my practice nearly two years ago and I enjoyed sharing cases, Seattle and an office with him. We have been friends through our connection on VIN for about 20 years.

He was in Baltimore with his wife, visiting her family. The report we received is that he
was fishing on May 6 and died of a heart attack.

He was enjoying his life and taking good care of himself. Bob is survived by his wife Bobbi, his daughter Leah, his son Sam, two grandsons and countless friends and colleagues.

With deep sorrow,

Dr. Karri Meleo

Cindy graduated from Apollo College in 2005 and worked at a general practice before joining us as a veterinary assistant in December 2008. She can be found these days handling reception or taking your pet's vitals. She enjoys radiation therapy and says the opportunity she has to pet all of our cute patients is one of her favorite aspects of the job. In her spare time, she enjoys white water rafting, hiking, swimming, skiing and gardening with her husband and daughters.

Jennifer with sons, Justin and Evan

Jennifer
graduated from Michigan State University with a degree in finance. She moved to Washington and decided to pursue her love of animals by attending Pierce College and becoming a licensed veterinary technician. She started working with Dr. Meleo in 1998. She took some time off to start a family and joined Animal Cancer Specialists in 2000. She enjoys traveling, sports, and spending time with her family, which includes Paul, Justin and Evan, and their dogs, Stella and Yuri.

Raynel and "Sparky"

Raynel returned to ACS after working for awhile in general practice and passing boards which enabled her to become a Registered Veterinary Technician.
She has enjoyed the companionship of animals since an early age. After a 14-year career in printing, she decided to enter a field that she is truly passionate about, where she could empathize with people and help them care for their pets. In her spare time, she enjoys fishing and camping with her
husband, Tim and their dog "Sparky". She has also enjoyed the company of a diverse menagerie of rescues including multiple cats,
fish and birds. Her current brood consists of 3 cats: Poppy, from Boulder, MT, Oliver, and Phantom, and "Torti", the Russian tortoise.

Sandra with her husband, John

Over fifteen years ago, Sandra began her career in veterinary medicine as a receptionist for a specialty practice that included internal medicine, oncology and radiology. Shortly after Dr. Meleo joined that practice, Sandra began her role as an oncology technician. She continues to treat patients in addition to serving as our Office Manager. She and her family enjoy fishing, and sailing on their 22' Reinell.

Sara Bee (2 year MCT survivor) and Stephanie

Stephanie
started working at a veterinary hospital right after high school and enrolled in the pre-vet program at the U of AZ. Although she changed majors, she decided not to leave the veterinary field altogether and has spent the majority of her life working in various capacities, including equine surgery and emergency medicine. She began working with Dr. Meleo over ten years ago and has a particular interest in radiation oncology.  During "fair weather", she can frequently be found crabbing and also enjoys a bad round of golf.

Katt graduated from WSU with a BS in Zoology and has worked with a variety of animals ranging from flamingos, giraffes, wild-caught elephants and rhinos, to chimpanzees and orangutans (her favorites). She worked with us briefly in 2008 and recently returned part-time. She also works as a dog groomer and is (slowly) preparing to open a sanctuary for Great Apes somewhere in the greater Northwest. If she has any spare time, Katt takes naps with her cat Killyjoy and her dogs Frances McBones (recently recovered following surgery to remove a soft tissue sarcoma) and Misa.  She also makes "palm oil free" soap to promote saving the rainforest in Indonesia, the home of her beloved orangutans.
